| Recently I began a new
adventure when I innocently inquired at an online broadcast location if
they had any broadcast for home educators.
Seeing a need that could be filled, I suddenly found myself
conducting my first interview with John Taylor Gatto, a former New York
State Teacher of the Year.
I had no experience interviewing people, unless you count the short
stint I did for a newspaper conducting interviews of merchants in the
community. I think I did all of one interview, carting my two
young children along with me.
So how did a home educating mother of eight suddenly get her own
show? The only answer I have for that question is that the Lord
opened a door, and I walked through it.
I don't have a studio. I simply conduct interviews with all
sorts of home educator specialists, parents, and even the children in
the privacy of my master bathroom while taping interviews over the
phone. |
I have been blessed to
interview Mike Farris, Mark Hamby, Zan Tyler, Israel Wayne, Chuck
Edwards, several kids who were educated at home, and many moms who have
ministries in their homes. The first few months were a bit challenging
for me as I tried to read an intro, come up with all the questions ahead
of time, and schedule too much for myself in one day.
However, I'm now in a good groove of interviewing and scheduling my
life around this new adventure.
